hello, i have been a long a time reader and am sure i have read just about everything i could possibly squeeze into my head regarding the specific components and settings of my setup. Heres my problem, i can get a solid stable overclock to 3.465 ghz with only 1.21 cpu voltage. Thats a BCLK of 165 with 21x multi. As soon as i up the BCLK just one point to 166, i crash instantly upon opening Prime 95. It is not a heat issue, With HT on, i my max core temp is 67 degrees C. Giving it a small voltage bump , like 1 or 2 notches brings me enough to raise my BCLK to 172. Same temps. I have also tried setting the cpu multi down and have gotten the BCLK to 220 with no problem. So now , i have tried several different voltage combos to use a 173 BLCK. Even, went upto 1.4vcore and 1.35 qpi and upon doing that, i get the continuous reboot cycle... This really freaked me out. So i hard shut it down, waited a moment, let it reboot and it loaded the secondary BIOS . I have my MEM multi set at 6x to keep that out of the equation. I am pretty new to this, but have a somewhat decent understanding. So basically, how can i get a decent OC with below stock voltages, but cant even reach 3.7 with increasing the voltages by such a large degree. I only intend to reach 4.0ghz to get there for the sake of seeing my own cpu's capability, but not leaving there. I know there is alot of info i have left out, but if we could just start with this and work our way to get some ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have read so much , i just now finally decided its time to post and hopefully find someone with similar components and or problems. Thanks Again! ~dan.

I have 12 yate loons... 5 intake and 7 exhaust.

I do not think that the recommended CAS settings on your memory are 7-7-7-20 as you described. Could you give a link to what DDR3 RAM you have?

What you need to do is to make sure you have loaded optimized defaults in BIOS, first time you manually set the correct settings.

Then you make sure BCLK is 133 and then set memory multiplier to 10 that gives you memory speed of 1333 MHz as the sped you list you are using. Set Uncore twice +1. Now set timings to 8-8-8-24 because I think that is what you have.

I suggest you post your problem in Gigabytes help forum on TweakTown forum. I am sure LSDmeasap or another guy can help you with this.

A bios update may be a good idea in this case.

Make the QPI link speed the lowest it will go that wont help much but it will help.

The guide adresses that. [:lectrocrew:6]

i posted a couple of days ago to tweaktown. we'll see if they are any help.... but yeah thats the link to the RAM. I guess im gonna try the BIOS update and also try figuring out whats up with the "no dvi-link" after the gigabyte screen flashes very briefly, much much shorter than its supposed to be there.

u know what, i actually emailed gigabyte tech support, i know its worthless , just wanted to see the response i get. but i have been all around tweaktown. see tons of threads on it.

quite a few more, just search ex-58 ud3r

I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING EVERYONE HAS DONE FOR ME SO FAR.

hey poul, what do u think about clearing the CMOS before flashing. some forums say it should be, some say it dont need to be done. if i wanted to, i assume ( i know i shouldnt' just assume) remove the cmos battery in the board for a minute or so. What exact purpose does this serve?

got the f6 bios, boots to my usual speeds, but still aint working with all the exact settings i've been giving plus some other settings to play around with. Thanks guys.

Looks like everyone is out of ideas. Im just about ready to go to microcenter and start swapping out some parts, see if maybe something is defective. Again, thanks for everything guys. OverShocked and Poul , thank you for your time. If you think of anything else at all please let me know.
