Could you guys help me to decide between 1155 and 1366 sockets?
I want future proof for another 3 or 4 years most.
I’m a gamer and let’s say I need it for 24/7 to play Metro 2033 and Crisis on top settings.
I also need it for hd video and 2D-3D graphics.

Build 1: Socket 1366

Cooler Master HAF X
Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 80+ 1200W
ASUS Rampage III Extreme
Intel Core i7 Extreme 980X 3,3GHz
Cooler Master V6 GT (CPU Cooler)
Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 PC16000/ 2000MHz CL8 Fan 3x2GB
OCZ SSD 60GB (2 ssds, one for system/programs, second one for games)
Asus GeForce ENGTX580 DCII/2DIS/1536MD5 1536MB
Monitor: NEC MultiSync EA261WM 1920x1200, 5ms, thin bezels.

Later on I will add:
Another Asus GeForce ENGTX580
Two more NEC MultiSync EA261WMs for surround gaming.
It may sound strange but I can get the i7 980x for 400$. I’ll name it as i7 980x Extreme Black Market Edition :)
If air cooling is not sufficient I’ll be going for the water cooling later on.

Build 2: Socket 1155

Cooler Master HAF X
Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 80+ 1200W
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7
Intel Core i7 2600K 3,4GHz Socket 1155 Box
Cooler Master V6 GT (CPU Cooler)
Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 PC16000/ 2000MHz CL9 Fan 2x4GB
OCZ SSD 60GB (2 ssds, one for system/programs, second one for games)
Asus GeForce ENGTX580 DCII/2DIS/1536MD5 1536MB
Monitor: NEC MultiSync EA261WM 1920x1200, 5ms, very thin bezels.

All the same:
Another Asus GeForce ENGTX580
Two more same NEC MultiSync EA261WMs for surround gaming.

I heard that the SLI is the best on 1366 mobos for multi monitor gaming.

Thank you for reading

All the best

Sandy Bridge for sure.

It's the best bang for buck right now, and they are so close in performance, that it's not worth the extra $700.

Unless you're using highly threaded apps on a regular basis, and you need the extra horse power for the 990x, the 2600K offers plenty of performance.

Plus, you can always upgrade to an Ivy Bridge processor down the line.

The difference between the Intel® Core™ I7-980X processor Extreme Edition and the 2nd generation Intel Core I7-2600k comes down to a couple simple things. If you going to be running some heavy multi-threaded software or if price is no object then choose the Core I7-980X. If on the other hand you are going to be overclocking or looking for the best bang for the buck then go for the Core I7-2600k.

If you are a serious gamer, and like to play your games with the best settings, you won't last 3-4 years with any current configuration. I suggest that you just buy the best you can afford for now and accept that you will be changing the MB, RAM, CPU, and GPU in the next 2 years...

Hell, if you can get the i7 980X for only $400, go for it. I have an i7 980X with GTX480s in SLI on a Rampage III Extreme w/ 12GB Corsair Dominator GT 1866MHz, and it can't be beat. Damn... Where you managed to find one for $400 beats the hell out o me... Totally jealous...

Seems like most of the comments above didnt read the part about you getting the i7 980x for 400 $... :D Go for it, if the cpu isnt damaged or anything and dont get that air cpu cooler, there are better air coolers and if you have the budget for that build you should be able to get some good water cooling ;) Oh and dont forget a HDD for file storage if you havent got one - a WD Caviar Black would be the best IMO, 120 gb wont be enough.

Thank you guys all.

Actually the first reason is i can get 980x for cheap.
But the main reason which troubles me most is that the 1155 mobos are not multi monitor friendly. A friend of mine has already experiend that, his 2600k/Gigabyte ud5/gtx 580 2way SLI starts lagging and freezing after 20 minutes of gaming on 3 monitors whereas it is smooth on a single monitor. It seems the problem is in 8x8x lanes. But, i know that the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7 has 16x16x support. So, you guys think that i won't have lags as my friend if i go for Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7?

I'll have water cooling when i add the second GPU and 2 more screens)

Thank you for advise), that cooler is huge but seems very efficient, i'll go for it. apart from the cooler, do you think all other hardware is good? I know very little about hardware, i just pick most expensive hardware that's what i can do well)

With the 980x?
Noctua NH-U12P or the the thermalright silver arrow. What case do you have?

Thank you for advise, i'm planning to buy Cooler Master HAF X, it's very efficient for air cooling they say, but i'll be going for water cooling later on. i'm a bit confused here

No, everything else seems fine. The only other thing that bothers me is the monitor - Nec doesnt seem like a good brand to me, according to http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/nec-multisync-ea261wm-bk/4505-3174_7-33132747.html , the prices for the monitor are 478 $ and above, wich is too much for a 26 inch, also i noticed it doesnt have a HDMI input.
For 179 $ you can get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236052 . If you want to throw your money :D for 499 $ you have the new 120hz 3d displays http://www.anandtech.com/show/3842/asus-vg236h-review-our-first-look-at-120hz/1 , altough i havent seen one life and im not sure 3d is that good.
After i wrote all this :D i found http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236103 , but its out of stock. Should be arround 350 $ (cant find a certain price http://www.shopbot.ca/pp-asus-ve278q-asus-price-283427.html ) This should be the best one IMO . :)

your case is perfect for watercooling. The more radiator space the better the cooling. With watercooling you'll need at least 500usd lying around and a big radiated area (which you got with the HAF-x) to make it really effective.

If you got the cash go one time for the watercooling solution and get it done with. But remember watercooling needs a lot of love and tender. Like a fish tank. If you had a couple of tanks and your fish kept on dying then I wouldn't advise watercooling lol

If its done right it can be a very good and quiet solution compared to air which is a bit noisy for some.

Thank you for helpful advice. but water cooling is the last thing i want to do now because as you've said "love and tender is needed")). So, i'm afraid i may f.. up since i'm not experienced, but i'm learning so i can go for it in future.

All the best
