I have the cooler master V8 and it works well, i haven't overclocked my system yet though. A good (and non-conductive) compound is the Arctic Cooling MX-2

My i7 965 is running at 4GHz right now and something like 190W (based on the difference in my system power between idle and prime95 load), and it stays cool enough with a TRUE.

If youre not going to OC your i7 the stock heatsink is deffinately sufficient. You could even OC a bit the with stock heatsink. I have the i7 920 and like Greg_77 I have the Cooler Master V8. My i7 is at 3.6GHz (from 2.66) and the processor stays nice and breezy :)

For mild overclock around 3.6ghz, mid class coolers should be fine, Vendetta2, Xigmatek S128x, Zalman 9700, etc.

For more than 3.6ghz - I advise you go with one of these 3, CM V8, T.R.U.E., or Noctua NH-U12P
