I7 HyperThreading

In your opinion, how much, if any, of an overclock is needed to regain the single-thread performance lost by enabling hyperthreading on the i7. My inference is that while hyperthreading may provide the i7 with 8 logical cores there's a single-thread performance hit. So...I'm wondering about how much overclock is needed to offset that.

Thanks for your time.

There really isn't any single thread performance hit that I can tell. If you want, I can run specific benchmarks to check, but I've tried it both ways, and it seems to have no noticeable performance hit at all when running 1 to 4 threads.

Cool. Thx for the input. I got my Noctua cooler today so I took it from 2.67Ghz to 3.62Ghz anyways. It should be more than enough to offset any conceivable hyperthreading "hit". :)

...but I'm glad that in your experience there hasn't been any. :)

Thanks,

thanks for the reply. Im really new to overclocking and wasnt sure if i would over heat the processor at those temps.
I did remove HT and didnt notice any performance drop durring game play.
