I7 watercooling kit, is this ok?

Hey guys could some of you look over this watercooling set of components ad see if they match and work with each other.
Its for my new i7 build and Air cooling is just not cutting it when overclocking, this is my first watercooling build and im not to clued up on them.

XSPC Delta V3 CPU Waterblock i7 (LGA 1366)

XSPC RS120 Black High Performance Copper Fin Radiator

XSPC Single 200 Bay Reservoir Pump - Clear

F1 FeserOne - UV Blue 1L

Asetek WaterChill tubing (1/2inch OD)

Danger Den Compression Fitting 3/8" ID 1/2" OD [/u]

And guys im on a budget here so please dont come back with "you would be better with this" unless its on a par with the prices of the gear ive picked or ive really made a mess of picking.

You have a good start, but a couple of things:

Id definitely drop the the compression fittings, get some regular barbs (http://www.thecoolingshop.com/product_info.php/cPath/33_62/products_id/2519) save a few bucks and step up to 1/2 ID tubing ( http://www.thecoolingshop.com/product_info.php/cPath/33_60/products_id/2517 )

The pump looks a little weak but may be adequate for what your doing. Id look at this ( http://www.thecoolingshop.com/product_info.php/cPath/33_57/products_id/2532 ) with one of these ( http://www.thecoolingshop.com/product_info.php/cPath/33_61/products_id/3155 ) on top. Cost you a few extra dollars but the more powerful pump combined with a much easier to bleed res is prolly worth it. This combo will handle it if you ever decide to add a video card to your loop.

Only other nitpick I have is the rad. Step up to the RS240 if you can fit it in your case. The i7 does run a touch warm and I dont think a slim 120 will be enough. If you can only fit a 120, take a look at the Feser TFC's or TC 120s as they will handle alot more heat than the slim 120 from XSPC.

Hey thanks for reply, however your the first person ive heard / read that says the i7 is not a hot cpu intel rate it to <96oC so there must be something in the heat since i have a uprated Akasa Nero HSF in an Antec 900 with all fans on high and still getting 70oC under load on stock clock speeds.

So Air is not the way to go as ive tried to no avail.

A decent water setup better than any air cooler, which is what he has the start of. He just needed a couple of suggestions.

Yeah if you buy a cheap all in one system from Thermaltake or whoever, yep, may as well stick with decent air cooler.

Thanks for your quick reply and have taken the tube issuse on board however im struggiling for space there for the pump resivor combo would be ideal (still not sure on that one though), also regauding the barbs i was going for the compression fitting as i feel they are more secure and wont leak, but like i say its a feeling, is this way off the mark are simple push on barbs with clips just as secure??

That pump I listed has a very small footprint, probably 4"X4" max in the bottom of your case. Bay res'es are a major pain in the a__. They are hard to fill, and very hard to bleed.

Any other shops in your area you can buy from?

Great the compression fittings are gone then, the problem i have with the shops is the I7 factor this place ive shown is the only place i can see that have all the parts in stock.

I have selected an other rad too a double one but 1 in frount of the other as again space plays this hand.

i will look in to see if i can get a pump and tank in the case.

No problem. The biggest issue people have with water cooling is they try to cut too many corners with the initial setup. Starting off with a good pump and rad goes a long ways if you ever plan on changing or upgrading the system in the future.

I think you may have a problem with your cooler.

As I sit here, the ambient temperature is about 25c.
I have prime95 running with all 8 threads peged at 100%.
The cpu is mildly overclocked to 3.33.
My cooler is the thermalright ultra 120 extreme.
The cpu fan is at 844 rpm.
Speedfan shows the cores at 63 to 67c.
The case is an Antec Solo with the fans on low.

No doubt you can get higher overclocks with liquid cooling, or Liquid nitrogen, for that matter.
How high do you need though?

I was under the impression that a 775 cpu block with a 1366 bracket would work also? If that is the case, go for an apogee gtz since it is the best waterblock around.

Also, distilled water (2$ or less for 2L at your local pharmacy) works just as well and way less expensive than special fluids. If you really want UV colored water, go for UV feser tubes.

As for the rads/fans combo, I enjoy a not very noisy setup atm because I use noctua fans and slim / low density fins rads (I have swiftech rads atm). In the case were your money is limited, I'd advise against going for PA's rads and stich with swiftech mcr-120 / mcr-220 and some silent 120mm fans.

The suggested pump/top is actually a very common option and works quite well. I second that choice.

Finally, good idea to drop compression fittings when you are tight on money. I was looking at using those on my setup but fittings alone would've cost me 100$. Go to your local home depot or renovation shop and get a couple of worm clamps. Those things work wonders.

Yeah im in Scotland in the UK, Stores stocking I7 gear is very thin on the ground,
btw the case is an Antec 900

900 isnt a bad case for water cooling really. Requires a little work, but you can easily fit 2 240 rads internally in there which will easily cool an i7 and a single core video card. (4870, 260, 280, 4850)
