[SOLVED] i712700K or F ?

Hi Guys,

looks like my good old & reliable FX 8370 + RX 480 already at his limit
so this year I will try upgrade it,

the usage of my PC mainly playing games
now : World of Tanks, Warhammer Series, RDR2 (tactical and open world oriented)
Upcoming : Warhammer Total war 3, Ready or Not, Company of Heroes 3, etc.
never overclock

so should I get the i7 12700k or the F series ?
or hit the i5 (if the i7 overkill for my playstyle)?
or maybe wait for the new AMD AM5 CPU?

for GPU I think I'll wait a year, price so expensive right now.


any other recommendation are welcome

i5-12600K would be a huge upgrade with 16 threads.
The extra you get with the 12700K is a few more threads which are not much benefit for gaming.

On the KF vs. K issue, I would always pay the extra $20 or so for the K version.
It is cheap insurance for a gpu failure.
It also lets you test without having to take the gpu out of your old rig.

If you have a need now, buy now.
If you wait for the next best thing, you will wait forever.
