ROFL at the translator!

Man it screwed up a lot of them words, but I can see the humor you used!

I also do not mind if there was another language which btw, we were only joking here using it, we never intended to even start our own language talking in this forum, just a small getting acquainted with other fellow french talking members, really.

I don't mind that, though I just hope it doesn't become crowded with different languages and all threads have different language fonts, lol!
Don't make me start speaking arabic here! 😱

Je ne parle pas français.
¡No hablo español!
Ich spreche nicht Deutsches.
Non parlo italiano.
Eu não falo o português.
나는 한국인을 말하지 않는다.
我不讲中文。
私は日本語を話さない。

If you can read those and they're right, you know how it goes... if you can't I'm specifically saying very bad things about you in alot of languages...

I took french, spanish, german, and arabic in school (2 years of each)... but that was a long time ago, I can get the gist of most conversations in each of the languages but generally not a good translation. Besides, if it gets really bad, go see babelfish and get a translation it's generally in the ballpark... generally. I don't know what slvr_phoenix was saying about someones grandmothers oak tree being reincarnated though... 😉 <J/K>... hmm maybe i shouldn't have translated it to russian and back through each of the laguages... shrug. Language is fun for the most part, I wish I had the time to sit down and really learn several.

ROFL at the grandmother one...

LOL, man sometimes it's hilarious what websites translated by BabelFish will say.
Stuff like what you said in fact!

Here is an example of translational software at work. (Note, I fixed up grammar after each reversion to English so that it was readable again.) As you can see, key words tend to change around just a little bit.

Step 1) Original English:
The devil plays in the garden of our insecurity and our sins are watered with our own blood. Oh what a horror humanity has become and what an evil thing we have made our universe.

Step 2) To German and back to English:
The devil games in the garden of our uncertainty and our sins are irrigates with our characteristic blood. Alas, what a grey humanity must become and what a vile thing that we made our universe.

Step 3) To Dutch and back to Enlish:
The devil gambles in the garden of our uncertainties and sends us irrigation with our characteristic bleeding. Unfortunately what a grey mankind must become and what a common thing that we made our cosmos.

Ahhhh!!

I just saw a newspaper article on the G5 that said that "although the performance levels of the G5 have been debated on the net, its feature sheet lends great credibility to its claim that G5 is more than twice as fast as a comparably-configured Windows-based system"...

Ignorance must be bliss to those people. Couldn't they at least have written a decent article, pointing to what was announced at launch, and then actually DEBATE about its performance? Noooo, that would be way too complicated.

Oh, and they also said that 64-bit processes automatically twice as fast, too... And it's a respected newspaper!!

Those translator are hilarous ! The words are in french, but gramaticaly, it's all messed up, and sometimes it doesn't make any sense.

On top of that, who made you God, rcj187? Since when is your word law?
sorry bout that. you're right of course. just had a really bad day and ran out of tolerence.
ive been shoving some of the french through babel fish and man does it screw it up :) lol

haha!! Never new this babelfish stuff existed. doesn't help me though, for example [grabbed a random french bit from someone..]:

je suis née a Rimouski.Donc tu va a l'institue maritime

Apparently means:

I was born has Rimouski.Donc you goes has institutes it maritime
ummm... Whazzat mean? lemme guess - I was born in the seaside town of Rimouski?

Anyway....

I still hate Macs. But that link to the mac user's article (where he lists all the hate mail he got) is hilarious! the narrow mindedness of some of them really tickled me.

It happens to us all. 😉 I for example am having one $#!7 of a day. Writing standards that everyone can agree upon is hard enough as it is, but doing it across sister-companies located in different countries (and thus having very different points of view and making direct communication pretty difficult) is just a 8!7(#.

I can only imagine ... since I can't read French. Heh heh. I've seen how bad things get when translated to other languages and back to English though, so I've seen some really bad grammar.

I find it entertaining though. It makes it a fun little puzzle to solve so that I can get the real meaning out of the words. :)

What really cracks me up however is when I run a phrase in English, translate that to another language, and then translate it back to English it sometimes can't even figure out what words in the other language mean in English! :O How can it not know how to translate the same word both ways? And why are a lot of the words that it does this to are words that are spelled almost exactly like their English counterpart?

It's just silly. :) You'd think that by today we would have better translation software than that. I mean heck, Word 97 has a reasonably accurate grammar checker for English. How hard could it really be to do the same for other languages and automate the corrections?

Haven't read most of this thread so excuse me for just jumping in. I'm not a Mac person but, what about IBM? No more Motorola cpu's. Wow! Just seems strange.

Heheh, I guess so!
One has to wonder if IBM may use better compilers in time, or anything possible to really tweak the G5. After all this is a different architecture, no?

It is a differant architecture yes,

and the Main reson for changing to IBM was for the facilities... IBM is faster and can produce more. And becasue Moto Is plagued with too many delays.

This is the english forum. There are other forums as well. I've registered at the German forum for example since you can post pictures there.

Nonetheless, a couple posts in another language never hurt anybody and I'm guilty of posting in Swedish many times.
