very funny article... (hate mail!)

So "Mac user" is indeed a religious designation... lots of faith involved.

You know what is sad about this whole G5 thing? It's that uninformed people are actually going to think that G5 is the world's fastest computer. It's sad, really.

Like there are many people who think that the 3200+ actually performs like the 3.2Ghz... Uninformed... Naive. Just sad. :frown:

Let's face it Mac's are stable because the programmers know exactly what hardware is in them!

PCs on the other hand can be configured numerous ways (sometimes the hardware we pick isn't the greatest combo: Via Kt133 and SB Live). Any somewhat knowledgeable user will be able to "tweak" any version of windows to be stable. A little trial and error is the key.

Most of the problems I've had are because I can't leave well enough alone. I built this thing and I'm gonna tweak the settings t'ill it chokes!!!

I never stated that Mac's were "more stable". Maybee I should have posted in French. Nah, you wouldn't understand that either.

Your sig did not reflect that. I'm a French speaking Canadian. Obviously I took offence at that sig.

Je suis à Hull, QC. Vive le Québec et le Canada! (fancy hearing someone say both in the same hailing sentence)

I think PCs can be as stable (or more) if configured properly. Most problems with PCs are user induced by improper hardware/software setups. MACs avoid this by configuring their own systems and not allowing users to "tweak" hardware or software.

Sorry Tommunist, it is impolite of us to use french on an English forum. It won't happen again (well not today anyways) Lol. Rest assured we weren't talking about you lol. But now that you're here....I'd get a translator for the next few threads if I were you (just in case).

I attended the Cegep in Rimouski from '92 to '94. The program we took was Technique D'analyse D'entrtien Industriel.

[not a reply to anyone in particular, just clicked last post]

I was just thinking, reading about Apple using specially optimized software that trades off some accuracy for more speed, that maybe Nvidia and Apple should merge. they have the same business ethics, it seems....

It looks likes this thread has degenerated into French babble but I would like in my two-cents on a Mac.

Except for using Macs in school my freshman year of college my only other experience was with my girlfriends. She bought a pink Mac her senior year of high school because it matched her prom dress. Unfortunately I am not joking. . . Granted this was 6 years ago but whenever I tried to do anything on that pink piece of crap it would give me nothing but problems. Of course she had AOL on it and whenever I would try to do something on the internet I had about a five minute window before it crashed. Of course 5 minutes was all my hand could take of using that horrid, small, and of course pink, mouse. Plus Macs are suppose to be really intuitive. I consider myself somewhat intelligent and I am definitely tech savy but couldn't figure out anything. I felt like my gradma, so lost and confused and I couldn't figure out how to do even the simplest tasks on it. So that evil pink monster is now completely obsolute I bought her a Dell laptop so I can finally do some work when I am at her place. Pinky is still sitting on her desk, and as a previous poster said it is a giant, clear and pink, paper weight.

Where is it defined as specifically being only in English? I've seen other languages used directly in the code for the quote tag, so obviously this forum's code supports more than just English.

On top of that, who made you God, rcj187? Since when is your word law?

I personally don't find people using other languages here offensive or even annoying in the slightest and see no reason why anyone should be restricted to just one location of the forum because they use any language other than English. I would have thought that in our multi-cultural open-minded world of today that we would have the courtesy to welcome people different from us with open arms instead of driving them away.

Sorry Tommunist, it is impolite of us to use french on an English forum.
I don't think so. Go ahead and speak in French, German, Russian, Manderin, Tai, or whatever you want for all that I care. :) I think that it improves the forum, not detracts from it.

Nod, I'm with you there... my 98se install at home right now has been up for a year without a reformat, is on 24/7, and i use it to do just about a bit of everything (though, gaming more than anything else.) and I find it to be exceptionally stable, I think my current runtime is nearly 6-8 weeks without a crash/reboot/etc. That's stable in my book :)

On the other hand my linux box which runs some sniffer apps, email filters, webserver, etc... has been up for just under a year :)

I've had good experiences with xp for the most part, seems slightly more stable than 98se... mainly just the fact that a single app doesnt tkae the whole system down generally, only itself.
