So as the title suggests, I've bought an Icy Box IB-AC603L-U3 in an attempt to use an older hard drive for storage

The issue is - it doesn't work. When I go to Disk Management in order to initialize it, using the GPT Disk option I get

''The Specified Disk is not convertible because the size is less than the minimum size required for GPT disks''

When I use the MBR I get

''The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error''

I first thought the issue could be the hard drive I was using, so I plugged in into the computer using a regular power cable & SATA data cable, and it works like a charm, so it leads me to believe that something must be up with the USB adapter, i took it out of the box 5 hours ago so i do sort of pray it has a hardware error

The error I DO get is

''Device SCSI Was not migrated due to a partial or ambiguous match''

also i already looked at their site for a new Driver, but since this is a plug & play they apparently do not have driver download links for it

Any help would be greatly appreciated

AFAICT, that adapter is USB powered, so it is only suitable for SSDs or 2.5" HDDs. That is, the adapter only supplies +5V to the HDD/SSD. Are you perhaps trying to connect a 3.5" HDD?

Hey and thanks for your reply! It's a Barracuda 7200.10.

Should be mentioned that i get these issues regardless if the hard drive is plugged into the USP adapter or not

What's it plugged into if it's not into the USB Adapter?

No i mean, i get the above mentioned issues stated, by the USP adapater, regardless if my harddisk is inserted into it.

That might be obvious, but since i don't know i figured it was better to point it out incase that indicates a different problem

Can you plug in an SSD or laptop hdd to the USP and then plug it into your PC and see if you still get that message?
If so, locate the USP in Device Manager and then Delete it, choosing to remove associated files when asked. Then unplug the USP for a minute and plug it back in. That should cause windows to reload the driver.

Done and Done - I did still get that message, i located it, it appears as CF Card SCSI Disk Drive - Removed it, waiter a minute, plugged it back in, same issue
