Build Advice I'd like some advice and help on a build of BRL 30.000 (around 3.5k USD in terms of parts prices) for gaming

Hello, everyone!

It's been almost 10 years since I built my last PC and now it needs to be replaced xD - I've lurked a little bit here on tom's hardware since ever, but I think this is my first post

I'd like some advice with the next build

My budget is 30k BRL (Brazil's currency) for a credit card purchase (usually in-cash purchases will have 5~15% discount); this would translate to more or less 6.2k USD, but when we're talking about electronics, the prices here tend to be much higher, so it's roughly 3.5k

A few points:
  • I tend to prefer NVidia and Intel, due to probably a preconceived notion of durability - my PCs have always been Intel/NVidia and they lasted forever, while being silent all the way - if there's a trend of AMD having similar durability and noise suppression, I'm fine with taking the switch; but I prefer to buy a PC now that will last for many years
  • If possible, I'd like to take a leap to 4k gaming - is that budget enough? Do I need a RTX 4090 for 4k gaming, or is something like a 4070 Ti enough?
  • I'm thinking on 2GB NVMe SSD, something like WD Black or Samsung?
  • I'll need two monitors:
    • a small one with high refresh rate, something like 144Hz, for competitive games; I prefer it doesn't go beyond 24" since I'll strictly play on this monitor with KB&M and I like to have a full vision of the screen on those games, for mini-map watching with peripheral vision and such
      • is it worth it to have 4k on a small monitor? - I've never gone 4k, but it does seem to me like it's worth it
    • a bigger one that can have a smaller refresh rate (60Hz probably), to play single player/couch games, often with controllers, this can be as big as the budget fits
  • It's hot most of the year here, and I like the PC to be silent, idk how much that affects cooling

Add a high refresh rate 2560 x 1440 G-Sync compatible IPS monitor to this build.

Thanks a lot for the reply! :D

A few questions:
  • Is that setup good enough to do 4k gaming on high qualities - or would I need a higher budget?
  • The link you sent from Amazon for the motherboard has no available option to buy; I've found this option, but the name isn't exactly the same (it says MSI B760M-G; I'm not sure what those letters stand for) - Pichau is also a good parts shop
    • Is it the same?
    • If not, do you recommend any alternative?
  • Do you recommend any specific monitors?

You want a 1200W power supply and RTX 4090 for that kind of gaming at 4K.

I see.

Hmm, since this isn't going to handle 4k, I may want to tune down the budget a few notches, stay in 1080p for now and save up to go into 4k in the future - it's not worth it for the time I can dedicate to gaming currently

Should I create a new thread for the new build? Or is it fine to stay here?

I'd probably want to have a setup using RTX 3060 Ti or something with similar performance; and I'd be down to go AMD if it has a better cost/benefit ratio since I'm planning to buy a whole new setup in the somewhat near future (within 3 years or so)

A setup with RTX 3060 Ti can handle streaming less demanding games as well as playing more demanding games on 1080p Ultra at ~60 FPS, right? Something like Cyberpunk 2077?

Probably a budget of around 12k BRL (~1.5k USD) would be good for this mid-range level?

For 1080P look at a 750W power supply + RTX 4070.

Cyberpunk benchmarks, I would strongly suggest not building a PC around just one game that you can finish fairly quick according on how much you play.

So, initially I was gonna buy something expensive to run everything on max settings for years to come, BUT after creating the thread, I've changed my mind, since I don't think the budget is worth it for the limited time I have available for gaming

Now, honestly, I'm going to play mostly light competitive games, like Albion or LoL, I want them to run and stream at max settings @ 144 FPS smoothly with no big drops

Second, I'll do some programming on the side, and I may or may not model some low-poly models on Blender

Third, I'll play couch games in a casual manner (some of them can be competitive, but I won't play them competitively): fighting games like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter; play-with-your-significant-other games like Unravel 2, Overcooked: All You Can Eat, Moving Out, etc

And fourth, I'll play some single player (or non-competitive) games like Cyberpunk, Horizon Zero Dawn, No Man's Sky, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV and some indie games that can run on a microwave haha

For #3 and #4, they can run on 60 FPS with the occasional drop to ~40 (just no drops to ~10). I've never used Ray Tracing in my life, so I don't even know how it looks like. I guess I could switch DLSS on to try it out on some less demanding games?

Would something like this work?
* RTX 3060 Ti
* i7 12700KF
* what frequency of RAM? as for amount, I'll likely go for 32GB, since it's super useful for programming to have buttloads of RAM
* SSD probably the one mentioned by @Why_Me, I like having enough space to not manage it frequently and I like my stuff loading fast

I just looked at those sites you want to buy from, AMD graphic cards are much cheaper for the same level of performance as the Nvidia, unless you really care about raytracing.

For 4K gaming, you could by the RX 7900 xtx for around 6.600, it's not as powerful as the 4090 but it's much cheaper. Look at some youtube videos to compare them.

Look at the 4070 or 4060 Ti 16GB.
