gekn76 :
I upgraded my home setup to x99 platform (i7-6800k, 32ddr4), my old a (i7-4770k, 32ddr3) is now missing a purpose and since it is a very capable machine I would like to put it to work. I'm coming up empty with ideas since I already have standalone servers running.
What could I do with it except use it as a second computer, something fun!
I'm a very able coder so feed me some ideas!

gekn76,
The only thing that seems appropriate for an i7-4770K, 32GB system would be as a dedicated GPU video editing /rendering engine including a good GPU with a lot of CUDA cores.
If you have all the systems you need and since the new i7-6800K will have such high performance, it really seems that the i7-4770K might best be Ebahhh € / £ / $ converted into some combination of a GTX 1080, 900+GB M.2, NAS stack, extra monitor, great sound card, and surround system or something else tasty for the 6800K system.
I use HP z420 and z620 workstations and I'm thinking of converting my spare systems: Dell Precision T5400, T5500 and HP z420 to: a Quadro M4000 (8GB), a Tesla C2075, another Samsung SM951, and a third Dell Ultrasharp 27" monitor, and /or some new rendering programme. Or I might sell everything and upgrade an HP z820 or z840 to do All Things.
I have two "spare" systems- gifts from an architectural office closing, but these were a Dell Precision 390 and a Dell Dimension E520- worth about £100 together .I did minimal cost upgrades to both and had good results, but I've never really used the 390. However, the E520 (now Core2 E6700 / GT 440, 6GB) became very useful running a television machine. I cut cable 10 years ago and the E520 is terrific for streaming BBC iPlayer and general Webberisation- I'm typing this on the E520 now. But an i7-4770K with 32GB is too valuable for this kind of thing or something such as running a CNC router.
