Idle temp for a P4 3ghz 800fsb CPU?

According to the BIOS (updated) of my Abit IC7 my CPU temp is 54 just sitting in the BIOS screen. Is this normal for this CPU or high? I had my system put together for me and Arctic Silver 3 was used.

what heatsink and fan you using once you get that high you need a very powerfull/expensive one to keep tempereatures down

I'm using the one that comes with the P4. When I asked on these forums about parts for my new system, I was told that the P4 3ghz hsf was fine.

Ok here are my temps according to speedfan. They seems pretty close.
While Idle...
Case: 38
FSB: 39 (I think)
CPU: 50

While running a game that keeps my CPU at around 50%...

Case: 44-46
FSB: 42
CPU 60-62 (Fan at 80%. Higher then that and it whines like a bitch. Also those 20% only drop the temp by 1 or 2)<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by Darkmatterx on 07/04/03 05:39 PM.</EM></FONT></P>

mine averages around 89 degrees farenheit idle, and around 95 ish when playing games.

Using arctic silver 3 with a http://www.xoxide.com/vaaevpp4he.html for the cooler.

The Abit IC7/IS7 is known for showing high temeratures. On their forums it said that it uses some "formula" for calculating the temperature rather than using the actual readings or something like that, so it's probably nothing to worry about, especially if it seems to be running fine.

The HSF that comes with the P4 is awesome, fully adequate. It's a bit noisy though.

Your temps looks like mine. I also get ~60 degrees under full load, with the stock fan. I even use the grey paste supplied with the HSF. My board is the MSI 875P Neo.

So you should be fine. Btw, how is that mainboard of yours working? I'm looking to replace my gravely unstable board.
