Before I call...when you called, do you think they detected your fan was really not broken? 😀

I hope it works internationally.
Good, I'm dying to stock up more heatsinks. Haven't really been out collecting stock HSFs since last year.

Do I need a S/N or anything?

they didnt ask for my S/N it was a 2 minute call, they guy totally knew the chipset fan is crap

😀

it should be here next week

this is what the whole chat with him was like

Guy:Asus rma department how may i help u

Me : yea um my chipset fan is making a grinding noise, i need a replacement.

Guy: sure, whats the model of your motherboard

Me: A8n-sli

Guy: deluxe ?

Me: nope

Guy: ok we will send u out a new one, should be there by next wed

Me: ok kool -gave him my address and phone number

-END call -

i was suprised on how fast everything went through
i thought he was going to ask me a bunch of stupid questions

😀

All in English, wow. I sent an email to ASUS support and some guy sent me the instructions on how to make a floppy SATA driver disk. Went like this:

Me: Can you please tell me how to make a floppy sata driver disk to load the sata drivers at the F6 prompt?

Tech guy: (Actual Email frrom tech verbatim from a copy in one of my folders)

open the support cd on another machines "My Computer" then open Drivers folder, then Sata and copy everything from the Sata folder to a floppy except the GUI and the Readme file.

It works!!!!!!!!!!! 8O

Makes you want to go over on Newegg and post a testimonial saying you have the ASUS number to get a free MOBO chipset replacement fan and you just might be willing to post it in return for money. Everyone who owns that board is being driven crazy by the noise. I bet someone would send you a check.

Gotta shut down. Taking this computer home tonight and swapping it out to another case. Want the Lian Li case for my E6600 next week. It's a nice one. The most popular one on Newegg with the side window, black. Costs like $136 today or something like that. Almost bought a new case and thought better.
