If I buy a 10 bit color depth tv but play videos encoded in lower color depth, will it upscale those colors?

Is there any benefit to buying a 10 bit color depth tv? Are there any programs that are come in those color depths? Is the tv able to upscale even normal youtube content to more colors? Thanks

You can't upscale to something that doesn't exist. For example, a pixel is red. Well it doesn't know if it's a deeper red. There is no info to interpolate. It's red and that's all it knows.

But maybe similar to sound enhancement plugins, are there video enhancement plugins that would add more color to a video? I.e. turn an 8 bit into 10 bit by adding more shades?

You can't add what isn't there. You cannot, in any way, shape, or form turn an 8-bit color pallet into a 10-bit pallet. The necessary information simply doesn't exist.

Any upscaling is still not the same as if you started with actual higher bit. Upscaling/enhancing anything is always a bad idea imo. It's no longer what it was meant to be but a robot's interpretation that is uglier than the original. There are software that will increase saturation and contrast but the color info still doesn't exist and can blow out colors.

Try to explain color to a blind person.
