My friend is making a pc and wanted to save some money so doesn't want to buy window. He has a windows account on his laptop and when I got my PC I logged into it with my laptop account I didn't have to add my activation key and it is the full version. Thx in advance for the answer I always have my key to give him if it doesn't work

Solution
if the Key is OEM (which most of laptop manufacturer gave) you cant transfer the key
if you bought the retail key you could transfer between PCs.

But reading from you experience, you might want to give it a try.

Just want to give a little more info. I have an activation key on the side of my computer (Was built by a third party but I chose parts aka. Custom built pc). When I go to the settings to see whether the same key is in there it says my PC is using a digital version linked to my Microsoft account. I believe that both of them share an account because when I change the background on one it changes on the other and they share a one drive.

You can have same account on multiple PCs but each installation is activated on it's own. To my mind, Microsoft account is most practical and secure.
I personally have at least 6 PCs and other devices activated thru MS account (which I have since early 1990s ).
