I recently bought a RAIDMAX that has good reviews, but experts on this site have already told me to return it for a different, more reliable name-brand PSU. I'm considering "taking the risk", but I know when some PSUs die, they take components with them- what I want to know is if the other PC parts are still under manufacturer's warranty when the PSU fries, will they be able to be sent in for an RMA/Refurbishment?

That's up the the manufacturer of the component, but generally, if they determine that the failure was caused by another component and was not the fault of their product, the answer would be no. Neither would the PSU manufacturer warrant the other components that were damaged, at least, not without some form of litigation. Literally, it's not worth the risk.

If the PSU you want to use isn't on Tier 1, Tier 2 A or B or maybe Tier 3 of the tom's tier list, just don't use it without confirmation by one of the well respected moderators or long time experts saying yeah, it's ok but just hasn't made it on the tier list yet. These units are NOT recommended for any system, no matter the purpose." tier five list, I would highly recommend not using it.

The tier list is here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html
