[SOLVED] IJava doesn't open jar files

I wanted to open a jar-file(on windows 10)(to install Optifine for minecraft), and for that I installed JRE. But when I want to open the jar-file the app (java) isn,t in the list where you can choose with wich app you want to open it, so I can,t open it. It always opens with Internet Explorer, but then it doesn,t work.

Can anybody help me?

it could be just a zip up file.

Not all .jar files contain executables. What does the documentation for this .jar file tell you?

I have gotten java to work, so it has been downloaded the right way now, but when i try to open the jar file I can just see a black box for one second and then it is gone, normally you would get a dialog box where you can click install.

maybe they don't give you that option? check to see if it got install?

Likely the wrong version JVM for that .jar

I have got it to work by using a .bat file. Thanks for the help everyone.
