I was at him so i put it on Coward and attacked and moved back a step
and he duplicated himself before I could run to it. I tried this
several times with no luck. (I dont have teleporting available.) I cant
get the RoTHK because i dont have any wands of cold or Frost Bolt
spell... What i'm trying now is Bridge Building to Get it. Even with it
I'll have to walk past 4 or so Guardians to Get to the stairway and
talk to the non hostile one. Any advice?

There's a guaranteed wand of teleportation in the dusty dungeon.

It's too late to use the Ring now, I think. What you could have done,
however, was scum for an ogre magus. They can freeze several squares of
water with each casting of Frost Bolt, and I managed to use one once to
freeze most of the lake. An ice vortex would also work, but leading them
down to the UCBT is tricky. Invisibility is necessary. Obviously, either
of these options are dangerous, and you should be wearing the ancient
mummy wrapping to keep from getting frozen to death.

Another last-ditch option is to zap wands of wonder or drink potions of
wonder hoping to get Frost Bolt or Ice Ball. I've also successfully used
this tactic. Just keep in mind it's very much a game of chance. If you
have potions of booze, you can keep recharging wands until you get the
right spell, though that should really be a last resort, since those
potions could potentially be necessary later in the game.

You'll have to deal with the hostile Guardians before you can use the ring.
