Question I'm trying to figure out which GPU to upgrade to ?

I've already build my pc and currently using it. as the title of this post says. I'm trying to figure out what gpu to upgrade to from my evga gtx 1070ti. i'll put my whole build with its specs and what kind of monitor i'm using too.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600

Motherboard: msi B450m Pro VDH MAX

PSU: 600W Thermaltake Smart series

RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200mz

GPU: EVGA GTX 1070ti (Blower Style )

MONITER: ACER Nitro 1080p at 165hz refresh rate

Just wants options and opinion's on what to look for. I'm just to get the max fps i can get with my build.

Here's what I would do:

1.) Better quality PSU: Corsair RM, SeaSonic FOCUS, etc.
2.) Faster CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X3D or similar.
3.) Then, if you still don't have the framerate you want, find a faster GPU such as the RX 7800 XT, RTX 4070 Super, or maybe something else.

In my experience, using an old or over-worked PSU with a new, more power hungry GPU, can cause system instability.

High framerates on lower resolutions require a fast CPU. At 1080p, I can imagine you have some room to improve your fps with a faster CPU.

i do plan on get a 750 or 850W psu and my 3600 is brand new and its overclocked at 4.2 GHz. plus im getting a new monitor that's capable of 1440p at 144Hz, so i need a gpu that can achieve high fps at 1440p 144Hz

Better quality psu seasonic gold or Corsair rm gold. 750w

Depending on your budget

Nvidia 4070 or 4070 super the super is worth the jump. And it's incredibly efficient.


6800 xt or 7800xt or 7900 gre best equipped with a 750w or higher PSU depending on model

High frame rates are going to completely depend on what you're playing. The 3600 is not a good enough CPU to push high frame rates in many titles.

If you're not going to upgrade the rest of the system (CPU, etc.) buy a 4060. Under $300 it is the cheapest way to increase performance. It also will not require a new PSU.

When you do decide to get a new PSU, you can upgrade the CPU at the same time and grab one of the RTX 50xx GPUs when they come out.

If you are going to upgrade the system right now, then aim for a 4070 Super, or 4070 Ti Super if you can go that far.

On that Thermaltake Smart? Bad advice if that's what you mean. I'm presuming you mean the entire system including PSU?

Thermaltake smart series is a cheaper power supply and will not do well with a newer More powerful video card.
Nvidia 3000 and 4000 as well as 6000and 7000 series AMD video cards have high power spikes, sometimes almost double their normal power draw.
So a new video card also means a new power supply.
Unless of course you want to chance it! 💣🔥
