im trying to upgrade my brothers old computer

Question from humanbacon88301 : "trying to upgrade my brothers pc"

Given the age of the computer. I'd just put something like a used GeForce GT 730 2GB (GDDR5 revision not DDR3) in there. It's much faster than any of the GPU of the era and uses a lot less power. So, no need for a new PSU. It should handle any game an old Pentium 4 can play.

you need to find the cpu and mobo from cpu-z. then let us know the model.

it's like an agp card or pci.

Yup, no recommendation possible without knowing if this is an AGP or PCIe-slotted motherboard. If AGP, you can try and track down an old HD 4670 AGP, which I believe was the best GPU that used AGP, but I wouldn't invest much money in this. Simply put, you can refurbished rigs for $120 or so on Newegg that are far better than this PC. Unless there's something very specific that makes the PC interesting for a collecting, PCs age more like sandwiches than wine.

It has PCIE x16, the first generation.
