when i place my cd in matshita uj841s cd-drive it shows media as IMAPI_E_GENERIC for few secods later it shows no disc in drive in my satellite m45-s359 toshiba laptop with xp home edition sp3

any cd or dvd. i tried empty cds ,movies. dvd movies also

Does Toshiba offer a fiirmware upgrade for that drive? Otherwise go into BIOS to see of there's an error or take out the drive and plug it back in. Also check in Matshita's site to see if other people experience the same problems.
