The PC with the hammer is probably a tribute to Pink Floyd's The Wall

The hammer case has the symbol that is used in the movie "The Wall" on its side. Maybe they too read Tom's and listen to Pink Floyd.

Some of these cases are done by professionals as commissioned pieces. The Doom 3 case mod was done by Paul Capello (www.thebestcasescenario.com). Most of these probably have nothing to do with Russia.

But go ahead and keep talking smack about the people that create them. I'm sure they care what you think when they are cashing the paycheck the case earned for them...

Exactly what I was gonna post. I, also, wonder how many are actually Russian. *shrugs* Regardless, there were some good mods in there. The slide show could have stood to be a bit more organized, though...

Wow... if I walked in there with a case that said "ATI - CrossFireX" on it, I'd be brutally ripped apart.

Strange...

Must have been sponsored by nVidia or something. Or maybe nVidia makes three fourths of their profit from Russia...

[citation][nom]chronous87[/nom]One thing is certain...The Russians are NVIDIA's fanboy...[/citation]

No, it was from an nVidia contest about who could create the coolest mod cases. The ones you see are the winners, runner ups and other entries.

Also, these pictures are really old, I saw them several months ago. Not sure why Tom's is recycling ancient news.

I have to agree with several of the other posters, why are the captions disparaging remarks about the cases? They're pretty ingenious, and the "fantasy" one is a Doom 3 case, epic fail.

Lastly, I find it odd that some people are lambasting this article for showcasing interest cases, I mean that's what this whole website is about, and for, PC hardware and how people like to modify their own. Personally I think it's really cool to see the ingenuity and creativity on display, I mean this is the fruit of the labor of PC enthusiasts, the very reason why this website exists!

But yeah, please show new stories and not old news, this has been around since May:

"Russia’s top modding site, TopMods.net hosted a contest for the best Nvidia SLI theme machine. These are the contestants from the 2nd stage of the contest. Along with finished builds including a Yellow “Video card Toaster” pictured first, these are the best conceptual case mod drawings I’ve ever seen."

The Pink Floyd case is by far the best...but that's an easy judgement, since Pink Floyd WAS and IS the best rock band ever created...ever.

[citation][nom]nevertell[/nom]I hate these kind of articles, nothing useful, nothing interesting. And surely, I am going to get "thumbed down"....[/citation]
You dont have to look at it :)

Okay, I talked all kindsa crap about the last mods article, but this one won we right off the bat. Is that a mock tool box? It's beautiful.

It's a giant vacuum tube. Very cool! (Or hot, depending on whether it's on or not.)

Nice handiwork Russians! Some of these cases mods really made me smile.

What could be more Russian than taking a copper Samovar and using it as a PC case?

For the mod of the Yellow Fronted Reactor PC, green glowing fluid would have made it complete.

[citation][nom]Cmartin011[/nom]the hammer is a symbol of old Germany (Nazi) and was used in Pink Floyd the wall[/citation]

lmao.Talk crap. It's the symbol of communism also used by the soviet union (russia)on their flag.

Funny, there was only one case that i am convinced came from Russia.(the one with the map) this is probably submissions for one of Nvidia's case modding contests http://www.nvidia.com/object/ION_case_mod_contest.html i agree the captions are degrading and irrelevant. like the article, but don't just make up stuff how did you even get this job Igor? P.S. your name is epic
