Question In what way should I be pointing my wifi extender (for my PC) to my wifi thing? It looks kinda like the one in this picture but is a little bit

chunkier and stands straight up. Right now I have it just standing on the top of my case pointed in a direction not corresponding to the wifi thing.

the direction the antennae is actually pointing doesn't matter that much.
just that it is clear of metal obstructions and without too many walls between it and the router.

what is the distance from the access point?

are you having trouble connecting or maintaining a stable connection?

Like 18 ft maybe..

with that short of a distance and no real obstruction you should be maxing out the capabilities.
