Question In which drive of my PC is Google Drive saved?

I have been using dropbox on my drive C. But now that I am saving 1.5TB of data on drive C, I can't sync more files freely. I want to move one big folder to drive D. So I was thinking, maybe I can use google drive on drive D. That was my plan. But when I installed Google Drive on my PC, a new drive G has been created. It doesn't seem to belong to either C or D. (Or does it?) What is this? Is G really a distinct "drive"?

Dropbox is being saved under drive C. So Dropbox just belongs to an existing drive. But Google Drive doesn't?

This is how it appears on my windows explorer.

My PC's physical space is limited, isn't it? C drive has 2TB. D drive has 2TB. C is full with dropbox. So I want to move some big folder out of C and move it to D, and still sync it online. This isn't possible?

That's exactly what USAFRet means. Files on Google drive are somewhere on the internet and not on your drive. That's the whole point of using Google drive after all - you can keep more files then your drive space permits.

But where did this drive G come up? How did it just take 15GB of space out of nowhere? Did it take it away from drive C? From D? As I said, my original purpose was to use drive D for syncing files just like I do on drive C using dropbox. For that, I need to increase the google drive space to 2TB. But I am worried "What if Google drive tries to take away 2TB from drive C? Then there is not enough space"

That G drive...GoogleDrive, is space reserved for you, somewhere in the google cloud.
It is not on your local hard drive.

At some point, you selected 'Yes' when setting up a google account.
It reserved that space for you, and created that drive letter G.

It is not a 'sync', where files exist in both locations.

Where the files are depends on your settings

What it means to mirror or stream your files

Mirroring and streaming are two ways to sync your files. In both cases, any changes you make to your files on one device will be reflected everywhere.

With mirroring, your files are stored in the cloud and on your computer, which takes up hard drive space. You can access your files at any time, even when you don’t have an internet connection or the Drive for desktop app running. You can access files through a folder on your computer.

With streaming, your files are stored in the cloud. Hard drive space is only used when you open files or make them available offline. Files that are not available offline can only be accessed when you’re connected to the internet. All files, including those available offline, can be accessed only when the app is running. You can access files through a mounted drive on your computer.
