Hi,

Some what experienced builder but running into trouble I can’t quite seem to troubleshoot.

I started experiencing issues several days ago when turning on my pc, sometimes I would just load to a black screen and wouldn’t load to bios (immediate power off if button pressed) other times it would boot to MSI Bios with a spinning windows circle. Getting to the windows circle took a very long time, several minutes.

I turned off secure boot, and this let me in, once. I had the same problems so i reset CMOS, did not work, I updated BIOS, did not work.

When hard shutting off 3x in a row I’d get to the advanced repair where start up troubleshooting and reverting windows updates failed. I then did the following

- Reseated; RAM, GPU
- Reduced to 1 RAM in slot 1
- Switched output to motherboard graphic

Despite this the issues were still between not getting to BIOS and sometimes getting to advanced repair.

Debug lights on MOBO would illuminate for ‘VGA’ for scenarios where I could not get to bios. However, I doubt this is a GPU problem due to the onboard graphics not changing anything.

No lights would illuminate when it posted into bios. Intermittently I sometimes got into windows (seemed random and nothing specific caused it). After a little while I got my first BSOD for driver pnp watchdog. I done sfc and dism cmd commands, attempted a recovery drive which failed.

Since CMOS/BIOS update failed, I believed this to be windows. I done a reset but kept personal files and the issue is still persistent.

Not getting into bios leads to me to think bios/mobo error; however, getting into bios eventually leads me to windows. Anyone got any advice as I feel abit lost on how to move forward?

Thanks

Unsure what’s changed but now started getting into OS more consistently.

When PC boots, screen is black for 2-4 minutes, bios msi logo appears for another 2-4 minutes, then it’s letting me in.

It’s extremely slow. I think I will take out and reseat the CMOS battery and order a replacement to see if that helps in the interim.

After windows loads run a pass of 'crystal disk info' and post a screenshot of the results.

I was thinking drive was a possibility too. Never used this, lmk if you need something else from it. Thanks

Thank you,

This has stemmed from hard drive failure it seems of the HDD. I can now hear audible noise when I from the HDD that doesn’t seem normal.

When removing all but OS issue was resolved, adding one by one allowed me to identify the HDD is the issue.

Thank you
