Question Inconsistent Monitor Burn

I work from home using a 3 monitor setup. Essentially for the monitors, I have two cables running from each, one to my desktop, one to my work laptop dock. At the end of the day I just switch monitor inputs and press my USB switch to swap my mouse and keyboard over, and boom, laptop to desktop complete.

However, I recently got a new work laptop with a new dock. And I quickly noticed something. 2 of my monitors are identical Dells that use HDMI to the work laptop, and a DP cable to my desktop.

Both monitors on DP? All good. Left monitor on HDMI? Good. Right monitor on HDMI? Now gets burn-in of spreadsheets throughout the day, so I often use the LCD conditioning on it when I switch to DP for personal use at night to clear it before

So why is one of my identical monitors getting burn in ever since I got a new laptop? What are my possible variables? Is it the HDMI cord? The monitor itself? The laptop dock? The new laptop software? Any ideas?

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information for desktop and laptop.

Monitors: Make and model for all three monitors? Dell noted for two of the monitors.

Methodically swap cables, then monitors about in order to determine if the burn-in definitely follows the monitor, follows the cable, or stays with laptop connection.

One of the Dells is the one with the issue. After a test I confirmed the issue follows the monitor, I swapped the two Dells (meaning they are using each others cords now) and the Dell at issue gets burn in while on HDMI with the laptop, and is fine through the DP plug. The other monitor is fine on either DP or HDMI

So it's not based on the cable, and not based on which port the laptop dock is using, which means it's specific to the monitor when using HDMI, right? I'm still confused why it only started happening when I got a new laptop though.

I can clear it with the built in LCD conditioning but it always comes back. Unsure the exact cause or if there is a fix or if I'm just doomed until I get a new monitor

"Conditioning"....

Not a topic (full disclosure) that I can directly address.

However, there is always some benefit in learning more.

Do some additional online searches using search criteria as applicable to the described problems.

Change the search criteria as you read and learn.

HDMI via the laptop (provided that I correctly understand the postings thus far) - seems to be narrowing things down.

"New laptop". Not sure about that.

I would look for differences between "old laptop" and "new laptop".
