I am having issues with a few games. I can't play them as they crash 5-15 minutes after startup, most notably whenever things start heating up (lots of stuff happens at once).
--------------------------------------------
My specs (I have changed my GPU twice)

GPU: MSI GTX 980TI (I had an Evga 970 and an Evga 670)
CPU: I7 3770
Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V
Storage: WD 2tb HDD Black (this drive is dedicated to steam), 250gb 840evo.
Ram: 8 GBs Corsair Red Vengeance
OS: Windows 10 Pro
----------------------------------------------
What games are crashing?
Space Engineers
Grand theft auto 5
Cities Skylines
CS:GO(when I have settings on max)
Garry’s Mod(When I have settings on max)

Games that don’t crash.
Elite Dangerous
Goat Simulator
CS:GO (Mid to low settings)
Garry’s Mod (Mid to low settings
------------------------
What have I tried?
Reformatted OS Twice
I’ve gone through multiple GPU installs
Updated Bios
Verified Integrity of game Cache
Reinstalled said games
trying to run a game off a different drive
My temps are sub 65 and rarely hit 70

What haven’t I done and why
I haven’t reformatted my game HDD because I have bad internet, and to reinstall my entire library would take a little over 2 months of constant downloading. I will be moving in a couple of weeks, but I would rather figure out whats going on.

These access violations seem to occur in GTA and definitely occur in Space engineers

I was hoping not to have to answer that, I have to pull my case towards me which is a bit of a project with my current setup. Its an ultra X4 850W psu. I have stressed tested it using MSI Afterburner and it didn't blink, which is why I didn't even think to look at the psu

Luckily you have one of their respectable units, not the crap a lot of their units are.
Now that that is out of the way, we have to ask because so many people cheap out on the power supply which causes major system instability.

First is to check for corrupted system files since ntoskrnl.exe is a major system file.
start button and type in the search box CMD
when it shows up,right click, and then click Run as Administrator.
In the window that pops up type SFC /scannow and press enter on the keyboard.
This will check the integrity of system files and replace all bad ones that it can.

After that is completed download DDU from here'and install it.
http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Now go to www.nvidia.com and download the latest driver for win10

Uninstall you video card drivers from programs and features in the controll panel.
reboot into safe mode ,keep tapping F8 while booting and chose safe mode.
When in safe mode run DDU to remove left over video card driver fragments uning Nvidia as the source.
reboot into regular windows.
If it tries to install a driver for video cancel it.
Now run the video card driver install you downloaded from Nvidia.
This should fix your problems, if not just post back and we will dig a little deeper.

I crashed again, with this error
Faulting application name: SpaceEngineers.exe, version: 1.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x55c4c946
Faulting module name: clr.dll, version: 4.6.79.0, time stamp: 0x556bc7b6

I had reformatted my HDD as I stated above so I wasn't sure if this was going to work, but it was worth a shot.

Might simply be that the games that are crashing have corrupt or missing files. You mentioned that you had games installed onto a separate HDD, could you possibly re-install a game from that folder onto your main HDD instead? I know you mentioned your internet isn't the greatest, but is there one you could test this theory with? I believe Cities Skylines or Space Engineers is about 1-2 gigabytes.

I have been running the space engineers source code, so I decided to try moving it from my game drive to a separate folder on my C drive. It ran with the exact same symptoms. Would it make much of a difference if I reinstalled steam, then re-downloaded space engineers on a separate drive?

If you can, it wouldn't hurt to remove steam from your game HDD and re-install it onto your main HDD. Then, re-download a game that was previously crashing and see how it will run now with a fresh re-install onto your main HDD.
