Honestly i tried to look for an answer to my question for few hours now and either I'm very bad at that kind of research or just nobody got my problem. In my old PC i had a hard drive (1TB), and i do not really want to spend another £40 for a similar hard drive. The hard drive, is infected with lots and lots of viruses. Normally i would just do a format, but there appears a problem, I am really scared to install the hard drive on my new PC (roughly around £800 :s) and the old one got utilised by the service instead of repairing it. Are there any ideas of what could i do except for getting a new one? Thank you very much

Well, you can clean it or just to a clean reinstall, but try to stay off the porn and/or torrent sites and you will have a better chance of keeping your drive clean. :pfff:

I would start by cleaning it with Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10, which is free from HERE. There is also a very good set of instructions. Basically, just boot from the disk and let it update and then clean.

To get the download click on the green distributive button, then burn it to a CD or install it to a USB and boot from that.

The Seagate utility to fully erase a drive only works with Seagate or Maxtor drives according to the link you provided. But if the OP knows the manufacturer of the drive, and can download a similar utility, your idea is a good one. I have Acronis True Image Home which boots from a CD that can fully erase a drive, but that is a paid product.
