So I have a i5 - 4690K which is supposed to fit into a LGA1150 socket, yet I've used it in two different motherboards, (MSI Z170A M5 and Gigabyte GA-Z170N-WIFI) which are both sporting LGA1151 sockets.

From what I've read online, I shouldn't be able to do this, yet here I am typing this post from a computer that is in fact doing this.

Can someone explain what I'm missing here?

Solution
Download CPU-Z if you don't already have it and post a screenshot, otherwise nobody will believe you. An i5 4690k will not work with a Z170 LGA 1151 mobo, the pin out is not the same as LGA1150 nor will a Z170 BIOS support a 4690k.

Which, by the way, some of us can easily tear down most image formats to determine exactly when and how the image was altered. So, GENUINE pics, or it didn't happen, which means, it didn't happen, cause there's no way you'll be able to provide genuine pics of an LGA 1150 cpu running in an 1151 socket. Pants on fire.

Okay so the box that was holding my CPU says i5 - 4690k but CPUz says 6600k, so I guess that's what I have.

Wasn't trying to bamboozle anyone, just wanted to know whats going on. Thanks. :)
