I'll cut straight to it (since no one wants to read a story)
I have Windows 10, Acer S200HQL Monitor (1600x900)

I recently tried to plug my Xbox 360 to play it once again using an HDMI-DVI-D Dual Link adapter. (Monitor only has VGA and DVI-D Dual ports, VGA is occupied by my PC), problem is, when I switch to DVI-D, I get an "Input not supported" message.

I've read elsewhere and they say it has something to do with the resolution being greater than what your monitor can show when trying to switch to the new display/console etc.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Solution
1. Remove any discs from the disc tray.
2. Turn the console off.
3. Turn the console on. Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn the console on by using the Xbox Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left quadrant light illuminated.
4. As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time.
5. The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings, and then automatically restarts the console.

Also if I'm not mistaken, I think your monitor needs HDCP support to be able to use your Xbox 360 on it. But I cannot be entirely sure. if that is the case and your...
I don't have a 360 but if it's trying to output 1080p(or whichever variant it uses) that would be why. If it's possible to plug it into a t.v. and change it to 720p then try switching back to the monitor. That might work.

If it does, then try going through the settings to see if you can find something closer to the 1600x900. Its hard to say what options it would give.

I had a feeling it'd be the resolution, I'll try that out!

Yeah you 2 had the idea that maybe it's the resolution, honestly I hope I won't need to buy a capture card in order to play my console
