Inspron 530 tuner card s-video does not work

I have a tv tuner card on this dell inspiron 530 but cannot get the s-video out to work, nor the composite video either.
Have done several things ---downloaded latest software from Intel .... diabled user account control as per dell technician, but still no luck. I can record over -the -air tv transmissions or watch them on the computer but cannot output to tv. Thanks for your time.

I think you're referring to the S-Video and Composite ports on the TV Tuner Card? If so, those are inputs. You can only output via your computer's graphics card.

Here are specs on the Dell inspiron 530. It comes with a ATI Radeon HD3650 video card http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-inspiron-530/4507-3118_7-32953389.html

For output (playing back on your TV) you need to connect the SVideo cable to your video card, not the capture card. Here is a post on how to make the svideo output work. http://www.ehow.com/how_7371793_connect-tv-using-s_video-cable.html

For component output or composite output there may be an adapter cable that plugs into what looks like an s-video output between the vga/dvi outputs on the card. For svideo there may be an adapter needed rather than just plugging a standard s-video cable into the compatible plug on the video card.

Thank you for your time . I have since found out that card is infact an input card. I will have to add a card or just use a vga splitter. Thanks again. Bob

Yes , thank you for your time -- I did eventually find out the same thing and you certainly confirmed the same thing. It is an input card only. I will have to add a video card or simply split the vga output. thanks again for the help. bob
