Hello,
I can't get my DVD and CD drives to work. I heard the problem could be that imapi service isn't installed. What do I do?
Thank you

Hi
Ive just installed Windows 7 on my desktop computer but when i try to burn a disk i keep getting "Power callibration error" I have checked for the IMAPI in services but it isd not there. I also have the same problem on my laptop...IMAPI is not there either, my laptop is running Vista.. it just stopped working all of a sudden.

Do i need to download IMAPI from somewhere?? Ive looked everywhere but cannot seem to find it or any info on it if its missing

Any help at all is much appreciated

I had a problem with my dvd rw a few days ago,and i thought that imapi was missing on win7 but aparently it's not on win7 services,no one's got it.
I have done a lil search and looks like different CDs,or DVD's causes this problem.
You could try to use a different CD-R brand
I always use tdk and they work ok.
I know this applies to windows XP,but have look anyway
http://www.megaleecher.net/Fix_Power_Calibration_Error

i did a search in the start menu and it doesnt find anything! That link didnt help either as i dont have IMAPI 🙁 Im going to try sfc / scannow. Just need to find a way for it to run as administrator. I am logged in as administrator so i dont know whats going on.. I hate computers when they dont work! lol

dont need to worry everything can be sorted,in time.you can also try to reinstall/upgrade ur burner's firmware.
i went to windows folder and there,i searched imapi and it found the dll,
in vista and 7 imapi is not a service.

I guess some dll files could be in conflict with other software, but i dont think thats your problem now.
if you have the dll, it is a part of your system.
When was the las time ur burner was working?
How old is ur burner? if you think thats not the problem or ur burner is brand new,
get to device manager uninstall it,reboot and wait till windows installs it.
upgrading the firmware of it fixes issues too.like me,the bluebirds tool wont let me burn, then i found a removal tool from its manufacturer.

The burner hasnt worked since the new install. I dont think its that old but i got it with the computer that i got 2nd hand.

I have just uninstalled and it installed itsself as you said. Still no joy.. heres the log from Neroi 8 if thats any help...

Hi!
I have the same problem, my winXP seems not to know what "imapi.exe" is, but I found "imapi.sys" inside "win\sys32\drivers"
I have a slipstremaed verison of WinXp, made with nlite and downloaded from a web site (the key is mine)
Now I'm curious to find a way to re-activate it (even if actually I don't need it!)
Any suggstion could be useful, thanks
