install windows 10 on fresh hard drive.

I am building a pc for work and am having trouble installing windows 10 onto the hard drive.

I've downloaded the media creation tool and made a usb. (I've also tried going the ISO route with Rufus but was unsuccessful) I've gotten to the past selecting the hard drive, terms of use, no product key, and it starts to install...

But the install crashes at 62% with the error 0x8007025D

I've looked up the error and followed all sorts of trouble shooting guides but still remain unsuccessful.

First post here, please help.

Have you used the drive before? where did you get the ISO, directly from the tool, correct?

I have not used the drive before. It is being recognized in the BIOS so i'm assuming it is good. yes, i got the iso directly from the tool.

sounds like a bad copy. i would let the media creation tool make another ISO to load on your USB drive

That's what I was thinking. Just format the USB again, and let the tool download and do it's thing. Also try another port.

I have re downloaded the file to the USB a few times with the same result. I have not tried a new port. let me give that a go.

Nope, I tried a new port on the front of the machine and it crashed with the same error code.

redownloading. Is there a preference between the iso and the second option of making a flash drive?

ISO is just getting the ISO and you make it a bootable drive.

I would go with the USB option as it does the work for you and you do not have to do anything. Just let it download and eject it when it's done. Do you have another flash drive or no?

I have several flash drives of different sorts. I've only tried the one so far. I guess after this re download i'll see about using another.

Make sure it's at least 8GB, I know the newest build is just shy over 4GB

Doesn't seem like a new usb stick or a fresh download have solved the problem.

Well, it may be a bad drive..even though it's fresh. Instead of isntalling, go into Repair, open up Command Prompt and run a chkdsk /r command. I just hope there is no bad errors. What type of drive is it again

I have tried the install on a 2 tb Sea Gate and a 250 gig western digital. It fails in the same way on both.

Is the SATA cable good? I would doubt the cable is the issue, but it could be, if that's the case. Also did you try different SATA ports?
