Installation of Updates Fails.

I'm a small time simple single home user of Windows XP Home edition. In
researching for the SP2 update I found that my two year old copy of XP has
never been updated to anything even though the automatic update feature of
my Windows is turned on. I quickly went to the MSWindows update site and
tried to get the latest updates. SP2 is not available to me yet. Using the
Express the considerable list of updates seemed to download alright but on
installation I repeatedly get "Installation of Updates Failed."

Nothing in the FAQ's seems to cover this happening and MS's remedies do
nothing to help. Anyone know what's going on? Thanks, Denzil.

hi denzil,
there are couple of thinks you can try out. Make sure u uninstall the
firewalls before working on windows update. In the c drive rename the WUTemp
folder
Rename the catroot2 folder in c:\windows\system32
