Hey, I finally decided to upgrade to an SSD. It came in today and I installed it perfectly fine. I decided to install a new copy of Windows on it and start fresh since I also ordered a new mobo/CPU that's on it's way. Everything went perfectly fine, and I got Windows loaded up on it, and was transferring files from my old HDD and installing drivers on it. After I had everything off my old primary HDD I went back into the Windows disk and I formatted it completely. I then went to restart my computer and after loading in my mobo stuff it went straight to a black screen that now says "Reboot and select proper Boot device - or inset boot media in selected boot device and press a key". I went into BIOS and my primary boot device is my new SSD with Windows. It was working fine when I had Windows installed on my old HDD and I had the boot manager to select which drive I wanted to load it from.

Please help me, I can't even get into my PC!

Hey there, Ezenemy!

Did you unplug your HDD when you installed Windows on your new SSD?
I'd suggest to perform a new fresh install on the SSD, but this time unplug everything from the SATA ports, except the SSD (and potentially the CD/DVD-ROM optical drive).
Also make sure the SATA mode in the BIOS is set on AHCI, instead of IDE for the SSD.
You can also check this tutorial: http://www.overclock.net/t/664738/how-to-setup-ssd-boot-drive-with-secondary-hard-disc-optimization

Keep me posted with the results. Hope this helped.

Solution

Hi again, Ezenemy!

If you are using Windows 7, then I'd recommend to check this link:
https://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976?wa=wsignin1.0
This will let you correct this without reinstalling.
Here you will find other ways to troubleshoot this: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/bootmgr-is-missing.htm

However, I'd recommend reinstalling the OS now that the SSD's SATA mode is set to AHCI.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! :)

I reinstalled W7 on it after unplugging all of my other HDD's. Thanks a lot for the help.
