Installed RAM While PC Was On!!!

RAM model: Corsair Vengeance LED.

So, I was about finished building my first PC ever, I didn't insert the RAM correctly so I tried to adjust it while the PC was on, and then smoke came out of it. The motherboard's DRAM_LED indicator is on so the RAM is probably dead? (LEDs still working). Burn marks are very minimal. Question is how do I know if my motherboard is damaged as well or not? And is there a way to fix the RAM?

all you can do is power off and install the ram and then see if it will boot up. if it doesn't then your mothboard and possibly ram too is fried

it does boot up but there is no video output

That means - it doesn't boot up.

Start by replacing the RAM, which I strongly doubt you can replace under warranty. If still no joy, new motherboard...again no warranty.

Yeah that's seems the way to go, unfortunately :/

Not necessarily both, start with replacing the cheaper part first. Then if needed, replace the mobo. If the mobo is damaged, it wont run with the new RAM.

Note: If there are scorch marks on both, then yeah, you will have to replace both parts.
