Installing bathroom fixture with no ground wire

Hello,
I'm replacing an old bathroom light fixture with a new one. It does not have a junction box. I mounted a piece of wood behind the sheetrock & connected the correct wiring. The new fixture does have a copper wire coming off it, but I have no ground wire. What should I do?

first off if you aren't sure of what you are doing , maybe want to get an electrician to wire this . i have done some retro wiring here recently and i ran into something like this and i did my research and found that you need a junction anytime connection is made, second if you talking kitchen or bath you should install gfci outlets. you will want to pull new wire or at least pull a ground , i would install a gfci outlet and pull a new wire for the fan and connect it to the gfci and that circuit for the fan would be protected also . 1 gfci can protect more than one circuit , but in your kitchen you may not want the refrigerator on that circuit for obvious reasons . give it some thought don't cut corners
