Hiyas,

Just got my new Sapphire Graphics card today. Opened up the Quick Installation Guide.

And it wants me to disable my on-board-graphics by referring to my computer documentation.

Well, after spending 2+ hours cleaning and searching my game room, I've given up on finding any documentation.

I went to the gigabyte website, didn't find anything. Did some searches here also.

I'm seeing various answers. Looks like I can install 1st and maybe not need to disable it? Or if I do need to disable it, I still install the card 1st and disable it either through Bios or Win 7 or both.

Thought I should post here 1st before doing anything to make sure.

Mobo is ga-ma785gmt-ud2h (rev. 1)

Card is a SAPPHIRE 100283-3L Radeon HD 5770.

do you have the dvi plugged into the card ? and does it play your games any better ?

You can go into the BIOS....... hit the delete key while booting. Once there you need to seek out the display settings..... make it point to PEG or auto or if there's an option to disable on board video do it. Hit F10 and then enter to save. Computer will reboot.
go to AMD's driver download site and download the latest driver for your card and operating system. Shut down computer. Unplug power. Install the new video card. Plug power cord ( 4pin molex or 6pin pci_e ) . Screw it down. restart computer. Windows may find your card and install drivers for it. if so, good. ( after windows finds the card and installs the driver you can go to windows update to see if there's anything more ),,,,,, if you choose.......Afterwards,,,,,,, you can install the drivers you downloaded from AMD........ if you do, choose to do a custom install and do not use the amd audio driver when asked.

The thing with disabling on board video. you may not have to so don't worry about that for now.

Well, I basically did all of the above right after I posted this thread. But, somethings not working.

In fact I refreshed my Windows Experience Index and actually took a hit, went from 4.3 to 4.2.

When I check my properties, it's showing both the 4200 and the 5770 as display adaptors and working properly.

Never mind. I had it plugged into the motherboard.
Figured it out when I disabled the 4200 and the screen when black.
Switched it to the card. Redid my WEI. Graphics jumped from 4.3 - 7.4. Base from 4.3 - 5.9.
Will try a cple of games after dinner.
