installing new intel I7 2600. Need help

Hey guys,

I just bought a new Intel I7 2600 and I'm having some trouble installing it. i have an ASUS P8H61-M-LE motherboard with an intel I3. i checked the asus site to see which cpus were compatible with it because I wanted to upgrade. i was updating to the new I7 i bought but when i installed it, my monitor wouldn't display anything. I checked all the connections, tried a different hdmi plug, tried a vga plug but nothing. i did some research and saw that i might need to update my BIOS so I reinstalled the I3 but the monitor still wouldn't display. After checking the pins in the motherboard, it looks like a few are bent. i tried bending them back but no luck. i bought a new motherboard (Same make and model) and when it gets here, I'm going to try installing the I7 again but i'm wondering if I need to do anything first. Will the monitor display on the default BIOS or do I have to install the I3, update the BIOS and then install the I7. Any help is appreciated.

It may depend on the motherboard release date.. if it was after the 1st quarter of 2011 (date of the CPU release) it should include the "0212" BIOS edition needed for the i7 2600 CPU... but the mobo is Revision 3.0 so it's likely to include a compatible BIOS. Installing and switching CPUs shouldn't be a problem if you are careful not to touch the socket pins... read the "how to" article for the proper and safe procedure.

I install a CPU labelled 2600 and it wouldn't work so I bought a graphics card and this solved an issue I realized later on. Despite the label on the CPU and the listing description I bought it from stating its a 2600 i7, my computer says it's an 2600k. This CPU integrated graphics are too much for my mother board to handle. I'm using a nvidia gtx 710 graphics card now.
