Installing new ssd

Hi,
I got an ssd and Hard drive with windows installed on the ssd. I bought a new m.2 ssd, but when I install it. The old ssd and the HDD are not recognised, therefore not booting into windows. When take out the new ssd, the old and the ssd and hard drive show up again.

What is your full build? Some motherboards will disable some SATA ports when a M.2 is plugged in espically if it s a SATA SSD and not a NVMe SSD.

It is a sata m.2.
Computer specs
Msi Z170 motherboard, i5 6600k and gtx 1070
Is there a way to turn to reactive the sata ports?

Look in the motherboard user manual for which SATA ports are disable when you use the m.2 port.
Likely your existing SSD is in one of those.

Your only option is to move that SSD to a different SATA port.

Ok I changed around the sata cables and its working.
