Hi
I have an old AM3+ motherboard (M5A7BL-M/USB3). The heatsink on the IGPU chip ( I think that's what it is) has come loose. Is there a feasible way to take it off and perhaps replace any thermal paste or pad?
There are two spring loaded screws holding it down. One is loose and does not appear to want to be tightened at the moment. The other is reasoably attached.
Any ideas very welcome.

Regards Steve

The "iGPU" does not have its own heatsink.

The iGPU is simply a small part of the actual CPU.

A picture of what you're looking at would help.

It's relatively easy to dislodge the push pins holding down a tall chipset cooler when adding or removing PCI/PCIe cards.

Sometimes the only way to make sure you've secured the pins properly is to remove the motherboard from the case and check underneath.

If the pins become damaged, you can buy replacements. Search for heatsink push pins.

If the old paste looks dry, clean it off the chipset and heatsink before applying new paste. Too much paste is almost as bad as too little paste.
