Dear,
I've bought a Samsung 950 Pro 250GB and put it in my motherboard (MSI Z97 Gaming 9 ACK with M.2 slot) with windows 10 installed. Then i've downloaded the Samsung nvm driver version 1.0 but it says: Samsung NVM Express device is not connected, please connect your device. Anyone knows what I have to do now?
Thanks for the help

i'd go thru your mobo manual and review it's recommended bios settings - i've already forgotten but iirc you've installed the SSD in your M.2 socket - and most of the Z97 mobos' M.2 socket is limited to PCIe 2.0 x2

here's a snap of my magician, 950 is installed in a M.2 > PCIe adapter expansion card in a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot

that speed is surprisingly similiar to the speed other posters have complained about when their 950 was installed in a "x2" socket -

that or, have you gone thru your bios settings - iirc, your board indicated your M.2 socket was PCIe and sata express - and one poster has complained about his bios resetting to "sata express" even after he'd selected M.2

that's all i can think of

And what's the raid boot option, when i selec it, i can choose for PCIe nand configuration on or off, when on it doesn't dettect the SSD, also samsung migration software says i can't do OS optimization, iv'e gone through anything i think, or are there things i need to check?

i don't use raid - but if you're not running a raid setup i'd leave it off, same with Intel Rapid Storage

did you look for a M.2/Sata Express setting option?

as far as magician, it doesn't support optimization on the 950

In magician, in the window next to "optimization", ie the PCIe Slot window, what does it say about Link Speed and Link Width Current?

Off course, you did say that earlier "and btw, in the m.2 socket on your z97 mobo, very few z97 boards have 4 lanes (or x4) on their M.2 socket. If you don't see read speeds much over 800 MB/s, you know why", i'll buy such a card, so it just fits in a 16x slot, do you have any idea if could mount it in the back of my case, bacause it's not really beautifull you know..

I installed the m.2 4x PCie adapter and I've tested it and it says 2200 Mb/s so that's good, but the bios start up time in windows is still 6 sec, what is the best UEFI or UEFI + Legacy or is it something else i have to change, also, the programm that you mentioned (HArd disk senitel) doesn't monitor anything, there are everywhere questionmarks, or are there also other programms for temperature monitoring

Hello there, kind sir, would you help me understand my motherboard?
MSI z97 gaming 5, ith tech specifications it is stated:

1 x M.2 Key M Socket supports type 2280/2260/2242 storage devices in both PCIE Gen2 x2 & SATA mode*
- M.2 port supports M.2 SATA 6Gb/s module
- M.2 port supports M.2 PCIe module up to 10Gb/s speed**
** M.2 PCIe interface only supports UEFI option ROM, NOT support legacy option ROM.

From what I have now i assume It works as PCIe x2, 5 Gb/s. But it is in Legacy mode, I have it in MBR, not GPT and windows 7 installed (I try win 10 soon but not today and only if i have to).
What should I do to unlock the full speed?
1. buy adapter like yours and go for UEFI, GPT
or
2. just go UEFI, GPT, reinstall windows or migrate if possible and x4 will be unlocked inside m.2 slot?
