[SOLVED] Installing windows on new SSD without Bootable USB

Why cant I just install the new SSD, boot up windows (with the old drive still running it as primary), go to the website... and download the installation media on the new SSD, then go into the bios and change the new SSD to the primary boot..... will this not work? I dont understand why I need a bootable USB?

You don't (need) a bootable USB.
You will need to burn the d/loaded ISO to a DVD and then install Windows from the DVD though.

You’ll need either a bootable USB flash drive or a bootable DVD of Windows.

Don't forget you can create a bootable HDD too if you happen to have a spare you don't mid erasing.
