Hello,

So i have a very interesting problem, that i have no idea what could cause. So ive recently bought an
LG OLED65C98LB OLED TV and I hooked it up to my PC to play some games.

So my issue is, that whenever i set the resolution (on my pc) to 4k (the native resolution of the TV) the framerate is horrible (like around 15-20) fps. But when i set the resolution to 1440p, then the
"Instant Gaming Response" (a feature of the TV) is triggered, and the framerate becomes smooth.

I think i need to figure out how/when this Instant Gaming Response is triggered and how i can keep it on even on 4k.

Id be super thankful for any advice!
:)

PS: My PC Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600x
GPU: Nvidia rtx 2070 Super
MOBO: b450m pro-vdh max (ms-7a38)

Update:
So for some reason the issue resolved itself, instant gaming response just is on all the time now, so the framerate is smooth (120 hz).

That feature should not really affect the frame rate I don't think. Maybe it is doing something similar to gsync but the main thing that you use the "gaming" setting for is to reduce the input lag. It makes things like your mouse movement not be delayed as much.

What kind of video card are you attempting to drive the tv with. Even with a 4090 some games like cyberpunk struggle to keep up at 4k. 4k take a very powerful video card unless you turn all the other setting down to low.

Have you looked here?

To be honest, I didn't see anything about resolution mentioned.
unfortunately, i dont have that setting on my TVs OS. There is however a Picture mode setting called "Game mode", but that doesnt really affect my experience.

But, for some reason , now the TV works. I put the resolution down to 1440p and then back up to 4k, and now it works for some reason. Instant game response now is on all the time, and my framerate is good.

But its not the game. Like my framerate was bad even when in the desktop or just browsing.

i dont think its because of my specs being too low ( i know the 2070 super is not the strongest card on the market, but it should be capable of producing good framerates at least while browsing n stuff lol).

I remember from a few years back that IGR was removed when running in 4k resolution for some technical reason, but it's been a few years and I forget the exact details. I do remember this coming up over at hardforum at the time; might be worth dropping over there. Failing that, avsforum will almost certainly have an exact answer for you.

thanks for the tip!
for some reason, it works now, IGR is on all the time now , so the framerate is smooth.
Now im struggling with a new issue, which is [removed] latency. Idk why , but for some reason, even if i have all devices (mouse, keyboard) connected via cable, i experience noticeable input lag.
Could it be the HDMI cable? (i have a brand new one, version 2.1)

Sound like the IGR feature is not actually turned on even though it says it is. That is the key reason this feature exists so you don't see the latency in your mouse. Generally you only see the input lag when you are playing games that require quick movements. The issue should not be very noticeable if you are just doing normal desktop work. Again a 2070 is not going to get a acceptable frame rate running 4k on most games.
