integrate XP with SP1

In case you didn't know how.

1. Copy the XP CD to C:\XPCD
2. Copy the SP1 to C:\
3. Rename it to sp1
4. Go to Start>Run and type C:\sp1.exe -x
5. Choose the location C:\sp1 for the Extracting
6. After the extracting go to Start>Run and type
C:\sp1\update\update.exe -S:C:\XPCD

and that's all, Now you got an updated XP ready to install burn it and install.
 
Let's say I have a XP Professional (corporate edition), and I intergrate SP1 into the installation CD; then somehow system crashed, and it needs to be reinstalled... What serial number will I need to enter in a fresh install using the new CD (SP1 intergrated) since SP1 has the ability to detect the corporate edition's serial key, and without an OS, I can't use XP keygen???

lets say for safety's sake you generate a few dozen valid keys and save and print them to a text file .. end of problem only a select gpoup of well known keys are targeted by sp1

When you integrate SP1 into the corporate build, the service pack recognizes it and changes the algorithm. The corporate admins are going apesh!t right now to get all new cdkeys from msft for that very reason. All the old keys are no longer valid, and right now, cannot be made valid.

So, that's why you don't want to integrate corp. builds right now. The "new/improved" keygen isn't out. And msft has reworked their EULA so that *when* a corporate key gets leaked, they are going after that corporation.

If you're talking about "slipstreaming" Service Pack 1 into Windows XP, so it's already integrated after a Windows XP clean install, you can find several guides here:

I already know how to "slipstream", I was just wondering if I'll have problems with SP1 intergraded into XP Professional corporate edition since SP1 checks for invalid keys...

There's is an old keygenerator. That one works with all the builds it's designed too.


It doesn't not, however, work with Corporate with SP1 integrated. Your old key will continue to function, because msft didn't want the admins going nutz just trying to install SP1. But, it's in the admin's best interest to make an incorporated file system somewhere, and make all machines that need to be clean installed, read from that file system.


Which makes their "current" keys completely worthless. It will not activate. You can install XP corp, then integrate the SP1. But you cannot install from an integrated SP1 cdrom or file system. Your key will not work.

So, if you are one of those poor bastards that has integrated SP1 to cdrom already, try a clean install with it.

PS. Make sure your old XP non-SP1 cdrom is nearby. You will need it, soon.

Here's my experience.

I slipstreamed SP1. I used the keygenerator to make like 3 keys, then started the clean install. Then, I used one of those new keys. It worked like a charm, and I've been running fine ever since.

So, you can't use the original corporate key if you installed SP1? That's lame... :frown:

I made an integrated SP1 XP Pro CD, using this <A HREF="http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?object=article.cfm&id=157" target="_new">site</A>, I also used keygen keys w/ no probs...(For Educational Purposes ONLY ofcourse)

yep i've done it also. i just used partmagic to give me another partition and clean instaled from the cd. no probs. i also put the keygen on the disk, a handy addition i think.

So, the key was applied prior sp1 integration? ejsmith seems to be saying that if the sp1 is first integrated, and then a key, generated by the keygen, is used the sp1 integrated installation will not accept it as valid.

It sounds like the slipstreaming procedure you did first changed the key before actually installing sp1. In short an automated procedure in which xp is clean installed (with the infamous corporate key) then the new key (still based on the originall non-integrated algorithm) is used to allow sp1 one to install.







Quality is better than name brand, even regarding beloved AMD.
 
No, there was no key applied. You don't really apply a key, because you can only enter it during the install.

After I slipstreamed SP1 and installed Windows XP, I used one of the keys generated, and not the original one that came with the corporate CD (*cough* Devil's 0wn). It worked just fine. I haven't tried with just the other key, but I won't try it since it's working just fine. Maybe I will with...um...WMware or something. :smile:

Alternatively,

1. If you have an original WinXP Professional CD
2. Copy it to your hard drive as in the guide from a link above
3. Get corpfiles.zip from somewhere
4. Replace the files in your 386 folder with those in corpfiles.
5. Integrate this with SP1 as done in one of the links above
6. Burn
7. Use newly generated keys

Oh...no, I'm fine. I'm just explaining that I'm not sure if I can install the slipstreamed XP CD with the Devil's Own key, without using the generated ones. That's all.

I'm pretty sure you need to generate a new key.

So am I good to go with my integrated cd? I have burned one but haven't tested it yet.
