Hey everybody,
My pc uses integrated video and I was wondering since I don't do alot of gaming( a little here and there) if getting a dedicated graphics card would make a difference. I mainly want to try and take the memory used for the intergrated card and put it to better use.I have been looking into the 6600gt,but I need some of your opinions. I don't have PCIe,just agp. Thanks
Just a few specs if needed>>>athlon 64 3200+,1024 ram, epower puma II power supply
Like to keep the price around 200.00 us

$200 US should get you much better AGP cards than a 6600 GT.

You'll be able to afford the 6800 GS or X800 GTO, both of which do rock that price segment and destroy the 6600 GT. Check out newegg.com

The 6600 GT and X800 GT are good cards that can be found for $150ish.

And if you can afford $250, you should be able to find the ultimate AGP card in existence... the X850 XT.

keep in mind that he dont game much, so a 6600gt will save him the cash
I see you have a 6600gt. How do you like it? I here that they tend to run hot?? one more thing, this may sound dumb but I'll ask anyway...If a card has the same numbers,ex.6600gt,but they are made by different companies, are they basically the same, just different branding?

55C full load is not hot. the 6600gt does well at 1024x768 with AA and AF turned up. as for the branding, the gpu is the same, but some companies overclock and have better warantees (bfg, xfx). i got mine real cheap off a friend for 170cdn. a while back. also u might want to check out hte heatsinks that come with the cards. my msi one has a ginormous copper heatsink. i think the warranty is more important tho. but price comes first. look for xfx, cuz bfg prices are bull

yeah i have the msi 6600gt as well. great card, it even has vivo. a molex connector is the standard 4-pin power supply connector that you would use for a cd drive or ide hard drive.
