[citation][nom]jaquith[/nom]benchmarks @ stock 'bins' is a little deceptive in that Intel purposely plans ahead stock bins so you end up comparing e.g. 3.2GHz vs 3.5GHz when either can be ramped-up >4.5GHz by a blind man.[/citation]What have you against the blind?

it's a good thing mr douglas 'Mao' perry did not write this article!
mr douglas 'Mao' Perry would have gone on and on about how intel shouldn't have had to obtain for free :
Getting past the parts that make performance enthusiasts yawn, the big advantage of many Z77 motherboards comes not from Intel but Lucidlogix. Packed exclusively with new boards, the firm’s Virtu MVP software promises improved gaming performance for any graphics card.
; instead of intel illegally developing 'their own' based on identical specs and design as lucidlogix's patented designs from years ago when the patent was granted.
thanks for writing this article Thomas, instead of letting the communist trolls at your company write up how unfair and uncompetively expensive it is to legally obtain and license technology in america.

don't care if you thumbs up or thumbs down or quote me as a troll, i won't see it anyways, just my personal comment on how refreshing and wonderful it is to still have some one able to competently write a tech article based solely on tech, not not social issues of right and wrong, capitalist vs. communist policies.
great article keep up the good work, and as long as they keep writers like you employed here at toms, there is still relevance in coming back to this site and reading the articles.

[strike]Guys i read the whole article 3 times now, and i read the coments as many times and it is really bugging me...

Virtu MVP is advertised evrywhere to able to boost graphics up to 60%, does it bother anyone that in the whole article I cant even see a 30% gain? Is it because it would only work with the new HD 4000 and 2500 iGPU? why hardly 1% gain apart from 3dmark? Could somebody explain me because i think that is probably the most welcome feature for mainstream gamers...I figured that most of us dont realy care about srt being improved since it was good already...or pci 3.0 because 2.0 did the job, same for usb 3.0 being natively supported because we were doing good already with it as it was. So why no words about the graphics boost? Is it some kind of secret it appparently doesnt work? I cant understand...[/strike]

just forget about that...i guess it is because i was reading at 3am i skipped the slides where the games got benchmarked... it seems to be working properly yet needs drivers to fix some bugs. I'm sorry...

[citation][nom]confish21[/nom]Tom, should we expect much of an advantage when ivy bridge is used?IB and z77 VS. IB and z68?[/citation]

Wait for the review like the rest of us. Anything now is almost purely speculation. You don't make purchases on speculation do you? I hope not, so just sit tight.

I think what you're feeling is withdrawal from all the crack you've been smokin.

What would be the performance gain of virtu MVP in gaming using a core i3 instead?

Lets say the i3 2120 with a 7770 or a gtx 550 ti...now that would give amd something to worry about...

What's with the bad 3D characters that still pollute the world of Graphics card boxes and programs? Isn't it time to move on from raiding Killer Instinct art assets to illustrate how awesome your tech is?

This review was done with a Sandy Bridge cpu, not an Ivy Bridge cpu. Let's see what happens then. Maybe nothing, maybe something. I want to see legit reviews done with Z77 boards, PCI-E 3.0 cards, and Ivy Bridge cpu's like the 3770K and 3750K.

I cannot understand how multiples sites review this gimmick and just don't get it.
If you card can do 70FPS, that means 10FPS more than needed, and in those 10 frames you can put absolute crap. Lucid VIRTU MVP puts crap there, and as you can draw crap thrice faster than normal frame - you get 30FPS instead of additional 10 - so you get 60+30 - 90 FPS (instead of 70).

But if you do below 60 FPS - all this overhead is slowing down, so you get negative performance change.
So Lucid VIRTU MVP - is absolute GIMMICK. And every brand that proudly uses MVP in their MB marketing is either dumb, or thinking that YOU, their customer, is dumb.

[citation][nom]Why_Me[/nom]I don't understand your post. What does Z77 + IB have to do with gaming other than the PCI-E 3.0?[/citation]
I don't see the point of upgrading from Z68 to Z77. That is all.

Well there's support for 4K video and 3 screens. Gamers will have video cards anyway which support that feature.

[citation][nom]Tom's Hardware[/nom]While we probably wouldn’t spend the money to upgrade from Z68, new system builders have nothing to lose and a few small things to gain by choosing a motherboard with Intel’s latest mainstream platform controller hub.[/citation]Upgrading from Z68 wasn't even suggested by the article.
