Intel 3770k vs xeon E3 1270 v2

This isn't exactly the most typical question but overall what processor would be better in all general areas? Gaming, rendering, compression, and so on. To my knowledge the xeon won't be able to overclock like the 3770k but with the two of them being the same price on newegg I was wondering which one would really be the best to get. I am building a rig pretty soon and was going to put the 3770k in it but after seeing the 1270 I became curious. Building it mostly for gaming and 3d graphic design and video rendering. Any input on which one really would be better for overall use? I'm pretty sure the 3770k would be better for gaming because of the unlocked cores though. Any input would be appreciated!

hypethetically speaking they would be about the same stock give our take very little in terms of processing power as basically they are the same chip.

Edit= the bigest difference i can see between the 2 is the ECC on the ram, the turbo clock speed, igp, and unlocked multiplier.
Ultimately stock they are going to be very similar. the xeon will be slightly faster at high end computations as it has a larger cache. but then again the 3770k can be overclocked.

i personally would go for the 3770k it overclocks and has improved quick-sync. plus it is a newer 22 nm architecture which is about 5ish% faster per core then the sandy bridge based xeon.. not to mention pci-e 3 support on the 3770k.
 


I was just curious as to which one would be better suited all around. I wasn't planning on getting the xeon or anything haha. but the 1270 v2 is also 22nm Ivy bridge. so it has the 3.0 PCI-e support also.

I know it will ._. you're missing the point to my question. I'm not asking advice as to which one to get, as I already ordered a 3770k. I just wanted a sort of head to head debate as to the pros and cons of each chip. You get what I'm saying?
 
O well then the Xeon is good for heavily threaded programs but thats just about it. It won't do as good in lightly threaded programs like gaming. The I7 is the all around better processor because it will do both heavily threaded and lightly threaded programs. I can't really see to many cons to the I7. Just turn off hyperthreading and turn on your games and go.

Solution
Intel 3770k has Intel Hd Graphics, Intel Quick Sync Video, Intrue 3d Technology and other graphics related display gimmicks.
Xeon E3 has ECC memory support and most important of all is Intel Virtualization Tech means good for VMwares and virtual machines.
Specs wise both processors are same, equal memory bandwidth, equal turbo boost and clock.

So if you dont want to overclock and are using Discrete dedicated video processor and do heavily multithreaded video editing, games, virtual machines go for Xeon.

If you do everything but dont want the burden of choosing non ECC mobo with Xeon E3 support or other memory mismatch problems and still be able to overclock and if you dont do virtul pc stuffs go for 3770k.
