Intel built in Nic

Hello
I have an older Intel d856glc Pentium 4 motherboard with 3.0 processor, with 4 gigs of memory maxed and a Nvidia Geforce 5200fx Graphic card, System still works fine and its my main computer I've re-installed windows 7 Home premium, and have a pretty clean system, but it seems my internet speed on everything is getting slower an slower and it takes longer for web pages to load , I have Roadrunner Turbo, and I know there is nothing wrong with that because I have an a i3 core Hp Laptop and it flies with no problem on the internet, while my P4 just drags, my question is I am still using the built in ethernet, and was wondering if maybe I need to add an newer nic if that would solve the problem?

Like I said earlier I have re-installed Windows 7 and have updated all the drivers and still have this problem.... Any and all help is appreciated

Just a guess, but a lot of browsers are using GPU acceleration to speed up drawing web pages. With a card as old as that one, maybe the browser is offloading the graphics from the CPU to the GPU. Check into disabling graphics acceleration within your browser. I know firefox does it. Try different browsers for testing purposes. If you have onboard graphics, try using that instead of the card, and make sure you remove the card for that test.

The only other suspect would be overheating CPU, or malware on the PC. I really don't think the NIC would be suspect, they are ancient tech and all the probs have been ironed out, IMO. They usually either work or dont work, not spottily work.

The Win 7 requires more RAM than older version. How many GB RAM do you have? The slow loading is due to lack of RAM & can be improved by adding more.

I looked through Internet Explorer 8 setting and didn't see a paticular setting for disabling graphic acceleration, and the onboard graphics quit working hence why I added a graphics card, System is clean no malware, Spyware or adaware on system... I thought maybe the getting a newer updated NIC Card might help, but I am not so sure now if that would help..

Try installing chrome or firefox to see if the same thing happens.
