Actually Xfire was launched in 2002 and Facebook was launched in 2004 if I'm not mistaken. So, you could say Xfire came first. I certainly enjoy using it. It is very useful especially for recording (screenshot/video) memories with your gaming friends.

I use Xfire, and I think it's great. I can see what games my friends are playing (while in a game or out) and start chat/voice. No fumbling with alt tabbing, and it works with almost every game I own that's less than 10 years old. I couldn't care less about the whole 'social' part of it on their website, but whatever.

Very happy to see this! The 4 million will be great for Xfire, it is a great platform for many games. I am happy to know that Xfire will be revamped completely (it has needed that for a long time), along with fixing all the issues such as the in game web browser. Always loved Xfire for COD4, still do.

2006, Viacom buys X-fire for $102 million.
2010, Viacom sells X-fire for $1 million.
2011, Intel invests $4 million into X-fire.

[citation][nom]rpgplayer[/nom]$4 mil? Intel could pull that out of petty cash. That's not even a real investment for them, more of a gesture.[/citation]
To Intel it's pocket change. Man I wish I have 4 million as pocket change... 😀

Xfire is a good program for gamers with friends or ones that want to keep statistics of their gaming or stream their play sessions etc but it needs an overhaul which it will get now thanks to intel. gj intel.

i really like xfire. screenshots, and accessing favorited tf2 maps with it is a godsend, dont have to open the game to see if the fav servers are full. And friends lists, clans, and screenshots are all solid.

LOL it's nice to see an article where author has no clue about what he's writing about.

Cm'on mr Gruener, do your homework. Xfire is far cry from "a growing website that is targeting video gamers".

Xfire has pc specs on your profile and records your game hours, which previously no one did since before 2005(when i joined), 2010/2011 raptr, overwolf and evolve were created, steam doesnt record hours in a overall table and does have a pc spec profle information section, < reason i use Xfire

Used to use Xfire, but lately it's been going downhill. I use Evolve now, and it's much better (and getting better): https://www.evolvehq.com/

Evolve is really better, even when it's just in beta-phase.
Xfire is getting old, there hasn't been any major update for way over a year, and the new xfire-team is lazy as hell...
